FORT PIERCE, Fla. (AP) — Donald Trump’s valet, Walt Nauta, appeared before a judge on Thursday and pleaded not guilty to conspiring with the former president to obstruct the investigation into his possession of classified documents at his Florida estate. But the property manager of Mar-a-Lago, Carlos De Oliveira, was again unable to enter a plea in the case because he still hasn’t secured a Florida-based attorney, which is required under local court rules. The magistrate judge also formally accepted the latest not guilty plea of Trump, who told the judge in court papers last week that he is not guilty and waived his right to appear at the hearing in person.De Oliveira and Nauta appeared in the federal court in Fort Pierce, Florida, on an updated indictment brought by special counsel Jack Smith alleging they schemed with the Republican former president to try to delete Mar-a-Lago surveillance video sought by investigators.Trump, Nauta and De Olivera face charges including c...Soccer player Da’vian Kimbrough, 13, becomes youngest professional athlete in US team sports history

Poland will station up to 10,000 troops at its border with Belarus, Warsaw’s Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak said Thursday. “About 10,000 soldiers will be on the border — 4,000 will directly support the Border Guard, 6,000 will be in reserve,” he said while speaking to Polish Radio 1.Błaszczak said Poland is moving the army closer to the border “to deter the aggressor, so that he does not dare to attack us.” This comes in response to what the minister called multiple “provocations” by Belarus, including the violation of Polish airspace and an increase in attempts to illegally cross the border. So far this year, there have been more than 19,000 attempts to illegally cross the Polish-Belarusian border, an increase on last year’s total of 16,000. The month of July saw almost 4,000 attempts, the highest number so far this year, according to the Polish Border Guard.Błaszczak said Poland is not ruling out closing the border, if these “provocations” continue. “Everything that...Trump and one co-defendant plead not guilty to latest charges in classified docs case; another arraignment is postponed

State regulators plan to release a trove of law enforcement disciplinary records as early as next week, a move that would offer the public a detailed look at the backgrounds of their local cops, a top official at the Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission said Thursday. The POST Commission is required by law to create an online database that details misconduct among police officers all across Massachusetts. POST Commission Executive Director Enrique Zuniga said officials have “finalized the collection and review” of disciplinary records after police departments submitted thousands for inspection. The commission plans to release roughly 4,500 disciplinary records, Zuniga said at a Thursday morning meeting. At a meeting earlier this summer, Zuniga said more than 4,000 complaints covering incidents through Jan. 31 had enough evidence to support the allegations against the accused officer.“I am now comfortable saying that because publishing this information is imminent, this coul...Sinkhole shuts down part of Longwood Ave. in Boston’s medical hub

Officers were able to locate the Corvette driver and arrested him, CHP confirmed. WASHINGTON (AP) — Inflation in the United States edged up in July after 12 straight months of declines. But excluding volatile food and energy costs, so-called core inflation matched the smallest monthly rise in nearly two years, a sign that the Federal Reserve’s interest rate hikes have continued to slow price increases. The inflation figure the government reported Thursday showed that overall consumer prices increased 3.2% from a year earlier. That was up from a 3% annual rise in June, which was the lowest rate in more than two years. The latest figure remained far below last year’s peak of 9.1%, though still above the Fed’s 2% inflation target. The Fed, economists and investors, though, pay particular attention to core inflation figures for signs of where inflationary pressures might be headed. From June to July, core inflation remained a tame 0.2%, thanks to easing prices for such items as groceries, used vehicles and electronics.“Core prices are moving in the right directio...Virgin Galactic takes off with its first tourists on flight to the edge of space
