Emergency power outage scheduled in Ticonderoga region

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- National Grid has scheduled an emergency power outage for the Ticonderoga region for Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The planned power outage is for crews to complete repairs as part of the company's reliability work in the area. According to the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce, customers of National Grid will be contacted by the company notifying them of the outage. A driver was arrested on suspicion of DUI after a crash that left his two passengers dead and forced the closure of southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway through Santa Fe Springs Tuesday morning. The crash was reported at 1:39 a.m. just north of Carmenita Road, according to the California Highway Patrol's traffic incident log. A deputy responding to a domestic violence call fatally shot a woman said to be armed with a kitchen knife in Lancaster Monday. Authorities were sent to the 2100 block of East Avenue J-8 regarding the disturbance around 6 p.m.Arriving deputies witnessed an altercation between a man and a woman, who was armed with a large kitchen knife, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department stated in a news release. A Thousand Oaks woman has succumbed to her wounds after nearly two weeks in the hospital, and her alleged attacker — her son — will now face a murder charge, as the Ventura County Sheriff's Office is investigating the attack as a homicide.Scott Goldberg, 21, allegedly assaulted a man and a woman in their 60s with a hammer on Nov. 19.
